Friday Fences #31

More a gate than a fence, this is the Brooke Homestead, an historic house at the Regional Park which is 20mins drive from our home.

After walking around the road, I found a fence, with a peek of the back of the homestead.
Check out the link below to see the rest of Friday's Fences.

PS...as to Vietnamese decorating style, yes, like Singapore.
Lots of wood, rattan and white.. :)

Sarah

What a sweet house. Is it lived in or can you visit it?

Hi Jeanne, The homestead is 30 kms North of Waiuku, up near the Manukau Heads where the light house is.
Happy furniture hunting :)

Sarah, thanks for your comment, we can visit the house, and are able to get inside, although it is empty and no-one lives there now. It is a protected heritage building and is looked after by the park ranger.

I enjoy visiting places like this, trying to imagine what life was like back then. It seems like such a slow pace life, which I would like, but then I think, no dishwasher, no washer/dryer, no a/c, and no computer. Makes me appreciate now. Beautiful fence shots!

Nice fences..would love to tour the house too!

I do love old houses -- and their fences! Like Betty, I love old houses and looking back, but I do appreciate the "now"!! Always fun to tour when you can! Great fence shots for the day! Hope your weekend is going well!

I can picture a couple of cute kids swinging on that gate--although might be frowned on by the house curators! :-)

Little Nan

Oooohh, I would like to live there...aahh, to dream!
